"Abstract Modernism and Asian art have a similarity. Neither relies on traditional Western methods of realism such as perspective and shadows. Finding the unifying elements, I like to blend the two." says Petty.

"The diagrams are imagined by artists before they are created, discovered or understood.  They are a technology precursor."

Six new pieces in Cheryl Petty’s new modern abstract style, a fusion of Asian and Surrealistic influences, will be shown to the public for the first time. Taoist poetry is incorporated into two of the works by Han-shan from ‘Cold Mountain’ poems from 8-9th Century. Another pair of paintings was inspired by ‘Approaching Puberty,’ a surrealistic painting by Max Ernst 1921.

Iris Credo will be performing a solo set of original compositions at 4:15pm. Credo’s music is richly melodic and syncopated lounge style, layered with themes on love and inner space and delivered with the velvet intimacy and rawness of a beat poet.
